A Rough Day

Oh, our poor sick Baby Bear!  We were out at the mall before Gymboree and he slipped into a super fussy mood in a hurry.  I hurried him straight home and kept a close eye on him.  Just a couple of hours later, he had a fever of 103.  Thankfully it was only viral and he was much better the next day.

Products used:  Patterned papers:  Making Memories (glitter dots), Creative Memories (background);  Stickers:  Creative Memories;  Tools:  Cricut Sugar & Spice cartridge (x-ray);  Silhouette with Berlin Sans FB Demi font (title);  Sketch:  Page Maps

Sweet Prints

The first time I saw that little crawling Tobin had left his handprints in our carpet, I melted!  What a sweet reminder of his progress.

I converted these photos to black and white and increased the contrast to show of the texture of the handprint more clearly.

Baby Bear

This layout documents where Tobin got his nickname "Baby Bear" from - this adorable outfit!

I also had fun using my brand new Silhouette Cameo machine on this layout.  I used it to cut the title, but also to journal directly onto my background 12 x 12 paper.  I LOVE the result!

Products used:  Patterned papers:  SEI (blue dots),  jilibean soup (kraft dots), ki memories (words), Basic Grey (squares);  Tools:  Silhouette with Scrap N Font's Woodland font (title),  Silhouette with Sketch Pen and Aunt Jana Sketch font (journaling),  Cricut Create a Critte cartridge (bear);  Sketch:  Scrapbooks Etc.

The "Unhappy" Month

In all of Tobin's monthly photos for the first year, this month was the hardest to get him to sit still.  He just writhed every time we put him in position.  I decided that "Oh well, this is the memory for this moment."  And month eleven became the "unhappy month."  Of course this is meant sarcastically.  ;)

Products used:  Patterned papers:   Paper Studio (tree/owl), Cosmo Cricket (orange), Bazzill Swiss Dot;  Embellishments:  Little Yellow Bicycle (journaling block), SEI (leaf rubons), Crate Paper (owl), Creative Imaginations (moody sticker);   Letters: American Crafts Thickers (unhappy), Prima;  Sketch:  Page Maps

Trailer Feast

While in Austin with my mom, we stopped by the Gypsy Picnic, a trailer food festival.  We joined up with my friends Chris and Jennifer for a lunchtime feast.  I had been to the Oakland version, Eat Real, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  This one was equally as great and cheaper.  ;)  I had the most ridiculous dessert donut (with icing and peach jam), crispy thai chicken, a fried pierogi, a chicken doner kebab, a gourmet hot dog, and a strawberry basil smoothie.  Yum, yum, yum!!

Products used - Patterned papers: KaiserCraft (forks), Making Memories (dots), pink paislee (grid), lily bee design (yellow/blue), My Mind's Eye (yellow/cream), Bazzill Swiss dot;  Journaling block:  KaiserCraft;  Accents: KaiserCraft (lemons), October Afternoon (date) ; Letters: American Crafts Thickers;  Sketch:  Sketch Support

Cricut Classes!

These classes are a long time coming, but I am finally prepared to offer Cricut Classes!!

First off, these classes will be local to the South Bay area of Northern California.

I have two levels available:
  • Beginner - for those who haven't gotten started with their new machine yet
  • Intermediate (1) - for those who want to explore more of the functionality available on their machine

Each class will be hands on featuring a few key functions on the Cricut.  Each student will create a layout to take home and there will be flexibility to theme your layout with unique titles and decorative elements.  Future classes will explore more functions on the Cricut machines and how to use the Gypsy.

I am currently trying to partner with a local scrapbooking store.  To be kept in the loop for future scheduling/locations for classes please email me at noeyspapers@gmail.com

Thank you!
Noey

Chompers

Tobin's first tooth!  It was next to impossible to get a photograph of his first tooth.  Every time I tried, he stuck his tongue out, covering the tooth.  These are far from the best photos, but you have to roll with what you've got.  When I have more time to master Gimp or Photoshop, I will do my best to clean up the larger photo and update this layout with it.

Just in Time for the Celebration

We had two grandmas in town for Tobin's birthday celebration.  Unfortunately, Tobin had a cold and we had to reschedule his party with friends.  But we had a wonderful time together with the family.  These are our group photos out by the pretty hydrangeas in our neighborhood.

Products used:  Patterned papers:  American Crafts, SEI (dots);  Letters:  Making Memories, Prima

Hand cut embellishments:  The embellishment on the left page was created from a white circle and trees cut out from the patterned paper on the right page.  I added interest by lining the edge of the white circle with dots from a brown marker.

I created the journaling block by layering papers with rounded corners.

Mismatched paper:  This page incorporates a new idea I've been meaning to try.  I added subtle interest to the page by incorporating two different colors in the background.  The left page has a darker shade of blue than the right page.  I brought the two shades together by adding a darker blue journaling block on the right.

Tobin's First Travel

I can't believe how small Tobin is in these photos!  It's been such a wonderful 16 months with him in our lives.  Here is Tobin on our first adventure out of state.  We flew all the way to NJ, just him and I, to attend my sorority sister Steph's wedding.  We stayed with my Aunt Renee's family and my parents came down from NH to visit.  At the end of our stay, more family traveled up from MD, all to meet the newest addition to the family.

Products used:    Patterned papers:  Basic Grey (grid), October Afternoon (dots);  Journaling blocks:  Colorbok, Little Yellow Bicycle;  Letters: Making Memories;  Sketch: Sketch Support

I hand cut the banners on this page.  Starting with rectangles, I marked where the points should come together with a ruler and cut a triangle out of the bottom with scissors.  I used a piercing tool to poke holes between the banner pieces and hand stitched.

The scalloped strips are made using my corners rounder.  The guide comes off and you can use the corner rounder to make scalloped edges.

Our Little Reindeer

I love how quickly I can throw together these divided album refill pages!

We loved, loved, loved this reindeer suit for Tobin.  We also had the bear suit and we miss them so much since he outgrew them.

Products used:  Patterned paper:  Bazzill Swiss dots, My Mind's Eye (blue dots);  Letters:  Prima (brown), ki memories;  Tools:  Cricut Create a Critter cartridge (reindeer);  Page protector:  We R Memory Keepers

On a side note, I didn't have my Cricut when I needed to cut the circles so they are based off a plate, glass, and vase from the kitchen cabinet.  Haha.

Here is another quick layout created with the We R Memory Keepers divided page protectors.  I am using these to help get caught up on scrapbooking without losing the fun of themed, patterned papers and the joy of putting pages together.

These are photos of little Tobin in January.  Just hanging out in our play area eating his pegs.  =P

On Cloud Nine

Here are photos from my cousin Aleshia's baby shower this spring in Sacramento.  Her sister hosted us in their new house.  There are no big bump photos since the shower was hosted a little early.  Aleshia and her husband live in Japan and would only be visiting us in the states one time before little Lilah is born!

My First Mother's Day

Pictures of my first Mother's Day.  We went to the nursery as a family to pick out plants for our garden.  We got tomato plants, an avocado tree, cucumbers, and a pink hydrangea plant.  Then we brought the jumper outside for Tobin to watch while we planted it all.

Products used:  Patterned papers: The Paper Studio (swirls), Little Yellow Bicycle (tree);  Embellishments:  Making Memories, K&Company;  Letters: Making Memories (glitter), Prima
