Homegrown in Gilroy

Our first trip to the Gilroy Garlic festival. Garlic, garlic, garlic!

Products used: Patterned paper: BasicGrey Basics Scroll (background), Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety; Stickers: Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety; Letters: Petals & Possibilities Scrap Metal (Gilroy); Garlic die cuts: K&Company Recycled paper, ricrac, straw, embroidery thread

Anatomy of a garlic clove:
In all of my die cut capabilities, I had no garlic. Who'd have thought? So I needed to get creative. I started with hearts. I picked out a slightly crooked style (Cricut Graphically Speaking) and cut it out regular and mirror imaged. I chose some patterned paper to add character (I used 4 different patterns in all). I layered the hearts and added tufts with ricrac, straw, and 3 colors of embroidery thread.

My 1st Christmas

My first Sketch Support project!

I took these photos of Tobin in front of the Christmas tree at his great grandparent's house.

As soon as I saw these photos printed out, I knew they would look great cut into circles and Allison's card sketch had the perfect arrangement for them. I took 3 major inspiration points from the sketch. The photo shape and placement, stitching, and the message or title placement. I also decided to create a triangle with the title and embellishments to draw attention to my favorite of the 3 photos. I used the stitching to hang ornaments along the top to continue the Christmas feel and also because Tobin just loved all the ornaments on the tree. I had fun leaving all the papers and accents in muted, retro tones so that the photos, with their full color, really pop.

Supply list - Patterned paper: The Paper Studio (black ornament and "Merry Christmas") and Jillibean Soup (Kraft snow flake); Lace: Making Memories; Candy canes: SEI; Stamp: Hero Arts (reindeer); Glitter Accent: Stickles, Ranger; Tools: Cricut, ("1st" Lyrical Letters cartridge, Loop de Loo feature, "Christmas" and "my" Lyr
Boldical Letters, Connected feature)

And a big thank you to Jennifer for helping with brainstorming, supplies, tools, and time on this layout! I made it while visiting Austin for the holidays.
